Yoga For Kids

Although kids' yoga has been catching on in studios over the past few years, not all families have the means to send their children to classes at $15-$20 a pop. Another venue is growing, however more and more public and private schools are welcoming yoga and integrating it into the curriculum. I've noticed how relaxed my child has become since we've started yoga. I recommend it to all moms with hyper children.

How to protect your home network

Wireless networks are everywhere. In fact, in the past 18 months, they surpassed old-fashioned, tethering wired networks as the method of choice for connecting computers at home. According to Jupiter Research, there's now over 12 million wireless home networks floating around America.

Should Government Tell You if You Can Spank Your Child?

It’s an old argument — to spank or not to spank children. Now California could theoretically be the first state to outlaw parental spanking. The proposal includes penalties of up to a year in jail and fines of as much as $1000 dollars. The Mountain View legislator who proposed it is instant national news. Fox News

I Dream of a Spa Vacation

I visited the Biltmore resort in Arizona in July and wish I never left. It's been cold and snowing in NJ the last few day and all I can think about is the seaweed massage from the Biltmore,

there's nothing like being pampered. I crave it, I want it!

My top 10 reasons for a spa vacation:

  1. NJ is sooooooo cold.

  2. Cold weather makes my muscles tight.

  3. Taxes.

  4. My car inspection is due.

  5. Post Christmas blues.

  6. Mailman keeps leaving me junk mail even though I posted a no junk mail sign up.

  7. Kings food market can't keep up with my organic avocados.

  8. Erik plays his guitar too loud.

  9. My aroma candles just aren't doing it for me anymore.

  10. Did I mention That NJ is really cold.

Daydreaming Can Make You Smart

I used to get in a lot of trouble for daydreaming in the classroom. Who knew it was so important. Studies show That the brain is in constant motion with it's thoughts. Most people just daydream about the wrong things. Instead of daydreaming about your daily tasks, we should daydream of our life goals and things we want in our lives.

Motivational Quote

World peace, means one mindset big enough to make the decisions about what everybody else wants, and the rest of the world conforming. That is the ultimate definition of world peace. You say, "Oh, let's get along!" And what each of you mean is, "You do what I want." A peaceful world means, "Everybody wanting what I want. Going along with what I want." And the only problem with that is, there are more than one of you, and you have endless desires that are born within you. The ultimate experience is, everyone having their experience and launching their individual rockets of desire, and the Universe yielding to all of them simultaneously. And everybody not worrying about what anybody else created, and so, then allowing what they are wanting. What a world that is, when there are endless desires, who are allowing the fulfillment of their own desires.

Feng Shui

The ability to balance work, relationships and living space can be a bit tricky. Who knew that by placing items in a certain way you can achieve balance. It makes a lot of sense to me. I notice when I'm in a disorderly environment it's difficult to feel comfortable. On the other hand, when I'm in a well balanced environment I feel at peace.

How's your love life?

Sometimes being in a relationship has its' ups and downs when it comes to intimacy. The trick is to keep the flame burning. It all boils down to love, and I don't mean love as a word you say here and there. To me, the word "love" means sacrifice, acceptance and attention. I Hope those words don't scare you. Knowing that love is much more than a word helps me love better.

It's No Longer Monopoly Money.

OK, so the thought of using a contract for your kids' allowance is a little strange. Strange is sometimes a good idea though. Sometimes you need to know your budget so that you can plan. I think it's very important to give kids an allowance. This way they get familiar with handling money. Take a plan of action.

Is Your Kid A Healthy Eater?

Ever since my son was a baby, I always gave him the best of the best when it came to food. I buy mostly organic and we eat out, at the most, twice a month. Before working from home I would eat out like three times a week. My fiance, the organic gourmet chef, loves to cook home made meals with all the main food groups. Do you think your child considers themselves "healthy eaters"? This test is to see how much we know about our kids diet.

Is Your Kid Running Your KItchen?

Indeed, the pantries of adults with kids are far more likely to contain cheese, cookies, processed meats, pizza and bagged snacks than are those of their childless peers, and parents consume more total fat and more saturated fat than non-parents, according to the research.

So what are parents to do - choose between their kids and steamed broccoli?

I see a lot of my friend allowing their kids to make all the choices when it comes to food. It's fair to allow children to give input, but not to make the final choices. Nutrition should be at the forefront of meals. These days there is no excuse for making nutritional food taste yucky.

So take back the kitchen - and the grocery list. Guiding a child's eating practices is as much a parental duty as seeing that he's immunized or wears a seat belt.

When Is It Safe For Our Kids To Blog?

So the question was finally asked the other day. "Mom, can I...um...can I have a blog?" I don't think it's a bad idea for our kids to have a blog as long as they are educated on the do's and don'ts of the Internet. It's like anything else in life, we have to hold their hands. Login in, passwords and identity are on the top of my list. My son wants to blog on sports and games. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

No Tag For You!

Banning Tag
by Donald J. Trump

I know we're a lawsuit-happy society, but now I've heard everything. Some schools throughout the country are forbidding kids to play games like "tag" - anything that has them running around - because the kids might get hurt on the playground. And if the kids get hurt, their parents might turn around and sue the school for endangering their children. This is ridiculous. Kids have to be kids. They can't just sit at their desks all day with their hands folded, looking at the blackboard. When they go out to recess, children have to be allowed to run around and relax. They have to be able to get all that excess energy out of their system or they aren't going to learn anything when they go back inside. I can't believe schools are wasting their time even thinking about things like this. Forget the pushy parents. Forget the threat of lawsuits. Let the kids go out and play.

This is crazy stuff. Some of my best memories of my childhood friend are playing tag. Is banning tag just another way of taking responsibility away from teachers? So that they can take longer cigarette breaks. School Says Game of Tag Is Out an article from FOX News goes a little deeper into the topic.
What do you think?

Cyberbullying, Get A Life!

As a kid, I wasn't a fan of bullies; now I have to deal with it as an adult? There's been many occasions where I've been bullied on the Internet. Who knows what drives these people to do such things. I found a site to teach us and our kids how to deal with cyberbullies.

Kids, blogs and too much information

Children reveal more online than parents know....

I think we should inform our children from an early age of the risks and necessary responsibilities of the Internet. It's going to be a huge part of their lives and we should prepare them for the years to come.
The article on MSN NBC makes many good points. Our children are always going to do things when we're not looking (just as we did when we were young). But the internet makes it a different ballgame. My friends nephew had a sleep over and the kids were up all night on the net, getting into ???
The difference with the kids who got in trouble and the ones who didn't were their parents. So let get informed This link will take you to a site with lots of security tips.

My Top 5 Family Activties For 2007

  1. 1. Sports - Keeps me active and my son burns off some energy.

  2. 2. Traveling - Experiencing the world and different cultures.

  3. 3. Arts and Crafts - Keeps the family unit together.

  4. 4. Games - Helps to build bonds between family members.

  5. 5. Movies - Good way to teach values.

At times a challenge to come up with daily activities when we have so many other things on our mind. I find that having a plan in advanced helps me through these moments. Why not plan for the year. I like to write down fun activities as I experience them. Having a journal gives me something to refer back to.

Keeping daily life is so important. A family that plays together stays together. We can pass these values down to our kids and their kids and so on.

Barbara Walters stands by Rosie O'Donnell

So what's the deal? Here we have two big shots having it out. I think it's all hype. It would make for a great celebrity boxing match though. I think Rosie would take win that fight; she looks like a dirty fighter. I'm not saying they should fight, but it would make for great television.
